Sofie Kate is here!!!

Sofie Kate was born at 6:56 am on Saturday, June 13, 2009.  She weighed 7 lbs 4oz and was 20.5 inches long.  She’s beautiful and healthy and perfect!

Sofie’s Room

We’ve pretty much got her room all ready for her to get here.  There are still some things that need to be done, like put in baseboards and hang some pictures, but it’s done enough that we can post pictures!

27 days left

There are 27 days left until baby Sofie is due.  That’s less than 4 weeks.  We’re slowly but surely getting things done - all of her furniture is put together, clothes and blankets are all washed (for the most part), and most things have found their place.  Really, if she came tomorrow, we’d physically be prepared.  Definately not mentally or emotionally, but I don’t know that we’ll ever get there.

As soon as I get off my lazy butt I’ll start posting pictures of her room.  I’ve had a cold for almost a week now and it’s all I can do to drag myself out of bed :(

32 week Doctor Appointment

N and I went to the 32 week appointment today and they said that everything is perfect.  I’m measuring one week ahead, so at my 36 week appointment we’ll get another ultrasound (darn! :)  ) and see how big she is then.

I’ve been feeling pretty good - just tired.  The heartburn has gotten a little ridiculous, so the dr told me to start taking some other stuff, and if it doesn’t get better in a week then I’ll get a prescription.

So it seems that baby Sofie is cooking just perfectly - hooray!

It’s Craft Time!

I like to think of myself as a pretty crafty person… I don’t usually have time for all the projects that I want to do (or all the projects that I start), but I have excellent intentions :)

Here is my next project:

Mine will be a little bit different though - instead of using 12 little picture frames (which are practically impossible to find at a decent price) I’m going to just use 12 blocks of wood, so my pictures will end up being a little bigger (I think these are 4×4, mine will be 4.5 x 4.5).  I am also going to use a dark frame, I’m hoping to find something to match the crib.

I also hope to make something like this for her room, after she is born:

Sofie Kate’s Room

A lot of people have been asking us what the nursery will look like, since we pretty much bought everything ourselves and didn’t register for anything.  Here are some pictures of the stuff that we have so far.Convertible Crib

This is the crib that we have ordered.  It won’t be light wood like this - it will actually be a pretty dark walnut-ish wood.  It is a convertible crib, so it is something that she will use for as long as she lives here, and longer, if she wants.

Pottery Barn - Brooke Bedding

N said “NO PINK”, so this is the bedding that we chose.  I love the little birdies on it, and even though it’s mainly blue and green, I think that it’s still plenty girly.  I found some green curtains at Wal-Mart that are going to go with it perfect.  There is a lot of talk about whether or not you should use the bumper in the crib or not - I found online that someone used the crib bumper as a valance, so we’re going to do that… I hope that it works out! :)

Hello World

So here I am, trying a blog once again.  I can’t promise that it will be interested, or exciting, or even very up-to-date.

There’s a lot of changes going on in our lives right now, and things go so fast that I don’t even really have time to think about them… I’m hoping that maybe if I can put things here, and share them with you (whoever ‘you’ might be) then it will give me time to actually think about what’s going on.

Today, I am 31 weeks pregnant with our first little baby, Sofie Kate.  She’s due to arrive in this world in 60 days… and I hope she’s punctual.  I’m enjoying being pregnant a lot more than I thought that I would, and so far (knock on wood) I haven’t had any problems with anything really.  No gestational diabetes, no anemia, only 1 trimester of morning sickness, and I’ve gained less than 10 lbs. (woot for me!).

We’re slowly but surely getting prepared for this baby.  N is working on refinishing the floor in her room, and it will hopefully be done soon.  We’ve got a pile the size of a size of a small car in our living room that is stuff that we received as the baby shower over the weekend… just waiting for somewhere to go.  We’re buying a custom closet system for her room, so that she’ll have someplace to put all her stuff, and we’re waiting on the floor to be done to get it.  Our crib should be coming in soon (hopefully) and then things will need to be a bit more organized.  Our house is a complete disaster… for too long we’ve been saying “we’ll just leave this pile of junk here and get to it later” so everywhere you look there are piles of junk.  It’s very frustrating, but what is even more frustrating is that I’m way too lazy to do anything about it lately.  I keep thinking “I still have 9 weeks”  which is totally not the way I should look at it.

Here is a picture of N and I at the baby shower over the weekend…
